That sounds like pretty "open" surgery to me.....but I think I know what you mean....When my sister had hers done about 100 years ago (seems like it)....they cut her all way down...like about a 15" scar...it was horrible...and my mothers was the same...thank god they don't do that anymore.....Hope you're feeling a bit better...Arlene

Yes, feeling a little better each day thanks. Actually managed to get dressed this morning for the first time since coming home although my waistband is catching a bit, but at least the swelling is going and I'm getting more mobile.

That is a shame....did you have to have the bigger surgery then the simple one then? I know there is a 1 in 10 chance (or something like that) that they will have to do the more invasive one. Take the pain pills and gets lots of rest..you will start feeling better shortly....it's amazing how well the body can heal....and eventually it will just be a distant memory....at least it's over and you can quit worrying about it...take care....

No, I didn't have to have open surgery but the opening that should have been 10mm had to be made 50mm because of the complications.
As you say though it's over now and I'm just working on getting better.

Thanks so much for your message I was really touched that you thought of me.
The surgery didn't go exactly to plan but it's done and I'm out of hospital. Going to be a longer recovery than I hoped and right now I'm in lots of pain and very tearful, but will get there in the end.
